1. Source Apportionment Study to Prepare Action Plan to improve Air Quality of Ludhiana City

PPCB awarded this study jointly to PSCST and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), New Delhi. The study was conducted during the period of June, 2017 to October, 2020. The major objectives of this study were to undertake  source apportionment of ambient particulate matter (both PM2.5 and PM10) and develop an air quality action plan based on future projections of source emissions levels based on different control options for the city of Ludhiana.

2. Techno-Economic Feasibility Study for Silica Recovery

The study was got conducted by the Board in May, 2015 regarding the disposal of Rice Husk Ash (RHA) problem as well as potential for silica recovery. The objectives of this were to estimate the quantum of Rice Husk (RH) Consumption viz-a-viz Rice Husk Ash (RHA) generation, qualitative analysis of RH and RHA, feasibility Study to explore the potential of silica recovery from rice husk ash by using prevalent technologies and to evolve Business Model to address the problem of disposal of RHA for Ludhiana.

3. Utilization of Paddy straw as Fuel in Brick Kilns

This study was got conducted during the period of January, 2014 to November, 2015 by the Board to establish the use of paddy straw as fuel in brick kilns. Main objectives of the study were to supply specific quantity of briquettes with varying percentage of paddy straw and biomass, analysis of fuel to be used, pilot studies on combustion behaviour and quality of output (bricks) and to finalize the protocol for feeding, firing practices in brick kiln based on the outcome of pilot study.

4. Feasibility study for Environmental Management Hadda Rorri sites

PPCB got this study conducted from the Council to carry out feasibility studies for Environmental Management of Hadda Rorries from September, 2005 to July, 2006, to evolve a suitable mechanism for management and handling of dead animals.

5. Study of MSW Practices in Kartarpur

The Board engaged PSCST to carry out detailed study (in 2005) of MSW management practices in Kartarpur to assess the quantity and quality of municipal solid waste (MSW), to study the existing mechanism of storage, collection, transportation and disposal of MSW and to develop economically viable strategies for its scientific management.

6. Study of MSW Practices in Mandi Gobindgarh

 The Board engaged Council to carry out detailed study (in 2005) of MSW management practices in Mandi Gobindgarh to assess the quantity and quality of municipal solid waste (MSW), to study the existing mechanism of storage, collection, transportation and disposal of MSW and to develop economically viable strategies for its scientific management.
