Survey & Monitoring of Ground Water
Ground water resources have been built up in the alluvial plains of Punjab through in- filtration, return flow from surface irrigation and seepage from rivers and other streams, extensive net work of unlined water carriers transporting huge quantities of water from the rivers to the fields. The Board is monitoring ground water of at 22 locations under NWMP Scheme and at 15 locations, under Action Plan Programme bi-annually Table-III. The parameters are analysed are as per Central Pollution Control Board guidelines. The Board is also monitoring the ground water quality in the areas which are potentially prone to contamination by pollutants discharged by Industries in the State of Punjab. The results of ground water samples collected under NWMP is sent to Central Pollution Control Board, Delhi.
